The Counsel Network Combines the Power of Hootsuite and MaxHire

Warren Smith and Christina Launay at The Counsel Network have a very forward thinking approach when it comes to their social media efforts.  With a firm focus on sharing industry information and providing valuable takeaways through their social media outlets, Canada’s oldest and most established legal recruitment firm has a social media strategy that really resonates with me.  Now, The Counsel Network is looking to take the next step in their social media efforts by looking at way to incorporate job postings in their Twitter feed.

“We wanted to find new ways of communicating with our existing clients and candidates as well as developing a social media presence so potential clients and candidates can see what we’re all about,” said Managing Director, Warren Smith when I sat down and spoke to him and Christina about their social media efforts.

Since the job details are already entered once into MaxHire and then automatically posted to The Counsel Network’s job board, Warren and Christina were looking to have a similar set up with Twitter.  Based on this description, we looked into this functionality and found that the easiest way to push out job postings that are entered in MaxHire to Twitter was through Hootsuite’s RSS feed feature.

By using the RSS feed in your MaxHire candidate portal administration area, then entering the feed URL in Hootsuite, you can have new jobs automatically pushed out to your Twitter profile.

The one-time set up also provides you with the ability to set an interval period for Hootsuite to check the feed for new posts and set the maximum number of posts you would like to push out at one time.

By combining the power of MaxHire’s RSS Feeds with Hootsuite’s capability to push out content from RSS feeds, The Counsel Network is able to easily publicize new job postings through their various social media outlets without any additional administrative work.

  1. We’ve implemented the same feature via HootSuite. One thing that I noticed however is that the current Twitter API does not support RSS feeds into lists, so if you want to specialize your RSS feeds coming out of MaxHire, you have to set it up through multiple Twitter accounts. Also, MaxHire offers the ability to create different RSS feeds according to different job categories, but are there any plans to provide the same feature but with job location instead? Depending on exactly how I am generating followers on Twitter, my tweets/feeds might be better focused if I could automate them according to location instead of skill set, but being able to do both (or maybe even with other job record fields) would in my opinion be a really robust social media integration feature.
    Thanks,

  2. I have the exact same question as Chuck. I would love to be able to segment the feed by location – at least by state.

I do love this integration with Twitter. We actually use FeedBurner from Google to post the jobs to Twitter instead of HootSuite, but we are HootSuite users as well, so perhaps we should change the method.

    Thanks

  3. you can also post to indeed through maxhire and then link your indeed account to twitter for automatic job tweeting as well. slight difference in tweet format but essentially works the same…
